What Is the Order of the Engineer?
The Order of the Engineer is a national professional association that promotes ethical responsibility, integrity, and commitment of engineers to the public.
Members participate in the formal Obligation Ceremony and receive a stainless steel ring worn on the little finger of their working hand. The ring serves as a daily reminder of the responsibilities engineers carry and the impact their decisions can have on society.

The Engineer's Ring symbolizes the pride, responsibility, and commitment that come with the engineering profession.
Who Can Participate?
The ceremony is open to eligibleengineering alumni, faculty, and staff who hold an engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program and have not previously been inducted into the Order of the Engineer.
Join Us at NJIT Homecoming 2026
Eligible engineering alumni are invited to participate in the next Order of the Engineer Obligation Ceremony, held during NJIT Homecoming.
