For the last several years, the Newark College of Engineering has hosted an “Engineering Career Day” on the campus of NJIT. The program is designed to give high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to explore options in six diverse engineering fields, all on the same day. Biomedical Engineering, Chemical, Biological & Pharmaceutical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, and Engineering Technology.
Students will be escorted throughout the campus, and your students will be able to meet with currently enrolled engineering students and faculty. In addition, there are a series of workshops that are run concurrently with these student tours, oriented to both teachers and guidance counselors and professional development credits will be awarded.
This event has met with great success over the years, and teachers have said that students have a better understanding of how their science and math courses could be applied to create new products. This event is also needed to help the economy - there is a great shortage of engineers in the US, and we need to educate students on this great career path.
To provide the best possible experience for the students, the attendance at this event is limited. Schools should register early since, for the past few years, enrollment for this event has been closed well before the deadline. To help us offer this event to as many schools as possible, we ask you to limit the number of attendees from your school to 20 students.
Registration for your school is not guaranteed until you receive confirmation from NJIT. You should receive this confirmation within 24 hours. Please do not reserve any buses until you have heard back from us. If your registration is confirmed, and your school cannot attend, please contact us as soon as possible, so that another school can be accepted.
