Engineering Career Day

For nearly 20 years, the Newark College of Engineering (NCE) has hosted an “Engineering Career Day” on the campus of NJIT. The program is designed to give high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to explore options in six diverse engineering fields, all on the same day. They will explore NCE’s six departments: Biomedical Engineering, Chemical & Materials Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, and the School of Applied Engineering & Technology. 

Students will be escorted throughout the campus, where they will meet with currently enrolled engineering students and faculty. In addition, a series of workshops will run concurrently with student tours, oriented to both teachers and guidance counselors. Professional development credits will be awarded.

This event has met with great success over the years, and teachers have commented that students who attend “Engineering Career Day” have a better understanding of how their science and math courses can be applied to the creation and design of new products.  This initiative is crucial for supporting the economy as we face a significant shortage of skilled engineers in the US, highlighting the urgent need to guide and inspire students toward this promising career trajectory.

To provide the best possible experience for the students, attendance at this event is limited.  Schools should register early. For the past few years, enrollment has been closed well before the deadline.  To help us offer this event to as many schools as possible, we ask you to limit the number of attendees from your school to 20 students.

Registration for your school is not guaranteed until you receive confirmation from NJIT.  You will receive this confirmation within 24 hours.  Please do not reserve any buses until you have heard back from a member of the NCE staff.  If your registration is confirmed, and your school cannot attend, please contact us as soon as possible, so that another school can be accepted.
