Aero SAE Team

The NJIT SAE Aero Design Team is tasked with designing and fabricating from scratch a radio-controlled payload carrying aircraft that maximizes carrying capacity while minimizing overall size. Each year, there are specific types of payload that the design must carry and challenges that the design must overcome.

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Aero Team at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is an organization which is dedicated in promoting opportunities for students to apply their knowledge to aerospace projects outside of the classroom.  SAE annually hosts an international Aero Design Competition in which students from dozens of universities are given constraints to design, build, and fly a radio controlled airplane. The NJIT Aero Team will participate in the Regular Class Competition in which the craft must carry an optimal ratio of soccer balls and payload plates and minimize wingspan and cargo bay length to maximize points.
