NCE Career Day

Newark College of Engineering
"Engineering Career Day"

Friday, December 4, 2009

As of Friday, September 25, 2009, registration for this event is closed.  We have received a very large number of registrants, and cannot accept any more students.  We are maintaining a waiting list if a registered school cancels - please contact Arminta Skipper at the e-mail on the bottom of the page.

For the last several years, the Newark College of Engineering has hosted an “Engineering Career Day” on the campus of NJIT. The program is designed to give high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to explore options in six diverse engineering fields, all on the same day. Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Students will be escorted throughout the campus, and your students will be able to meet with currently enrolled engineering students and faculty. In addition, there are a series of workshops that are run concurrently with these student tours, oriented to both teachers and guidance counselors, and professional development credits will be awarded.

This event has met with great success over the years, and teachers have said that students have a better understanding of how their science and math courses could be applied to create new products.  This event is also needed to help the economy - there is a great shortage of engineers in the US, and we need to educate students on this great career path.

To provide the best possible experience for the students, the attendance at this event is limited.  Schools should register early, since for the past few years, enrollment for this event has been closed well before the deadline.  To help us offer this event to as many schools as possible, we ask you to limit the attendees from your school to 20 students.

To sign up for this event, please click on the link below (Sign up Your High School).  Registration for your school is not guaranteed until you hear back from us, via email.  This response should be sent out within one week.  Please do not reserve any buses until you have heard back from us.  If your registration is confirmed, and your school cannot attend, please contact us as soon as possible, so another school can be accepted.
